Cover Girl: The Woman In The Mirror
Girl You Better Work!!!
Is what you hear when you walk out the door;
Compliments of reflecting the jewelry that you wore.
From the head down, you are looking Stunning;
Gazing with amusement upon the reflection of a Cover Girl frontin.
From your flawless hair and makeup,
To your long lashes to the perfect color of your lips;
The shapely form fitting top that compliments the perfect
Skinny jeans that brags on your waistline and admire your hips.
Let’s not forget about those shoes…yass girl
With those four inches sashaying…Cover Girl your better Work;
You are fabulously walking into reality looking good on the outside,
But when it all comes off you are carrying around the hurt.
Hurt….
The pain lies in the hairstyle that’s covering your head,
From the things done to you and sly remarks that was said.
They say eyes are the windows to our soul,
With hidden secrets and stories untold… but
The lashes consumed the pain that you’re hiding inside
Your lashes cover the baggage left behind from sleepless nights
and every tear that you’ve cried,
Your lips feel as though they have been silenced enough;
Oh how your lips want the opportunity to spit out some stuff.
The clothes…yes they cover every inch of your glory;
But underneath lies the canvas of scars and bruises of untold battle stories.
The stories of abuse, for every scar there’s an excuse,
Yelling in the mirror, “I’m not broken but just bruised.”
Your feet speaking otherwise, It’s tired of supporting the lies,
It’s tired of standing on an unstable foundation;
It’s tired of running from every situation.
Your feet encourage you to stand up against what you’re facing;
To chase the dream, that you’ve stop chasing.
Your feet encourage you to look up with those beautiful eyes;
To discover that your help comes when you look beyond the skies.
Oh how your lips want to let loose and your heart to wants to be set free;
Looking in the mirror, realizing the Cover Girl is me.
So Cover Girl take off your mask and tell your cover story;
For every shared testimony, God gets all the glory.
